Lei Sun
Master's of City and Regional Planning
Summer 2021
About Lei:
I am an Asian, he/him/his, who is a current second-year graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning at Cornell University. I feel a sense of belonging to the northeastern region, especially New York State, as before coming to Cornell, I graduated from Stony Brook University. In high school, I excelled in history and geography; combined with my study of applied mathematics and economics, my interest is in urban data science. Cornell University is an ideal place where I can continue my academic career, mainly due to the encouragement of interdisciplinary studies. I am not talkative, but I have a lot of interests. I love board games, indoor sports, and musical instruments.

At the Christopherson Center:
My work involved a lot of data analysis and visualization (maps, diagrams, resource guides) about waste streams related to construction and demolition debris (CDD) generated in New York State. To further enhance my professional toolkit, I intend to pick up more spatial data analytical skills to thus better serving the governments, corporations, and individuals I will work with in the future.
