John Raimonda
Major: Environment & Sustainability
2023 - 2024 Academic Year
About John:
I am a senior studying Environment & Sustainability with a concentration in Governance & Policy. I'm from Staten Island, NY where I've seen the impacts of urbanization and intensified flooding right in my own backyard, so I also understand the importance of smart urban growth to create liveable, sustainable, and climate resilient communities. This past summer I interned at the NYC
Department of Sanitation where I was able to get a first-hand look at the major role environmental policy and collaboration between the public and private sectors play in improving the sustainability efforts of a city to promote a circular economy and reach its Zero Waste and Net Zero Emissions goals.

At the Christopherson Center:
My interests lie within the intersection of sustainability and urban planning where I have learned the importance that the built environment and environmental governance have on furthering sustainable infrastructure as well as promoting climate
resilience, economic development, and overall quality of life.
